Calvin, thanks for the heads-up.
Lee,
What’s the longest pump track you’ve heard of or ridden?
I mentioned mine is 167 feet 3 inches ( I’m a pretty exact kinda guy) for one lap.
I am going to expand mine into two or three linked tracks. I am wondering if you think one could be too long. I know it could be too short, but too long?
Isn’t the “FIX” somewhere in the neighborhood of 125 or 150 feet in length?
I drew up a schematic of the two I would like to add, and it would total around 500 feet if you did all three. might be too long, but it would not be necessary to do all three. The chance to mix ’em up would add a bit of variety.
Hey Steve. It looks like Weir’s is the longest. Mine is about 150-175 feet.
A REALLY long one would be great for endurance training (I like to do 100 laps on mine), but to really rip it up I’d say the lap should be no longer than 25-30 seconds. After that your blood chemistry turns bad. No matter how fit you are, you can only go 100% for about that long.
On my track we’re rolling sub 8-second laps, so theoretically the track could be three times as long … and 500 feet seems doable. Oh, man … sounds like a research trip.
I’d like to see a 150-foot straight with 15 huge rollers — you could hit 25mph for sure. … We’re doing 21 at my house, and Beavis has clocked 23 at Weir’s.
Such an exciting new art form!

The outside Pump Track at Rays MTB is like 320′ long That is a good workout 2-3 laps at a time and I am spent.
Lee,
Thanx for the exposure. You and your crew have created monsters here in NC with the pumptrack craze. This is our second pump track in the last 6 months with a third WAY MORE aggressive on in the near future.
Thanx again

Hi Lee,
Yeah, NC is going nuts with these things. Fred at Industry Nine just finished out one across the street and down some from here. It kicked my butt first time out yesterday.
I helped to build the track in Asheville that Butch is talking about and it is pretty sweet. I have been helping to build another one out here in Victoria, British Columbia that is pretty sick. I will get some pix up soon.
