Sneak peak: the new P.3

This bit of sweetness just came from Deacon James at Specialized. Super cool!

Deacon is in charge of P.bikes. I sent him a link to The most versatile bike ever, and he sent back:

  1. Jason says:

Is that a new specialized branded green wheelset?

And is this a P.1? It looks like the frame is Hydroformed Aluminum – where was the Old P.1 is Cromoly steel.

And then there is a lack of bash guard.

I think I’m asking to much — I get the feeling it’s not final.

  2. Dan says:

Well, ditch the front brake. That thing is a dirt jumper through and through. You’ll be tossing 3’s in no time.

  3. Trevor says:

the specialized wheels are a partnership thingy with DT swiss so they should be super nice!!

the wheels are going on all the p/sx/demo bikes as of next year, and should be a whole lot better than the d540 things they currently have

  4. Mike says:

I’d be all over it if they put some real wheels on it. For those that ride hard and constantly land sligtly sideways they just dont cut it…

  5. Jake D. says:

    What’s up Lee!

    Looks pretty SWEET!

Do you think this bike comes in a size that would work for a 6′-2″ 200lb guy?

Saddle that low kinda looks like it might not work for me… but I don’t know… never ridden a bike with that kind of geometry.

    Thanks Buddy!

    Keep it BRAPPPIN’ Brotha’!

  6. leelikesbikes says:

    I dunno about the sizing.

For a guy your size, the bike will probably be ultra-quick and snappy.

This bike shouldn’t fit like an XC hardtail — it’s supposed to be little and low.

I was looking at some other links for the specialized P3 2009 model and its the same as this so this might actually by the new P3, this would make sense cause they wouldnt be giving you argyles and hydralic disks on a $800 P1 they’d be on the $1700 P3

  8. leelikesbikes says:

    Oops.

I looked back at Deacon’s message. It is a P.3.

The single gear fooled me. I will correct the post.

  9. osg says:

oh thats sick that you dont have to waste your time singel speeding it.. has anyone seen the new P1 yet?

  10. Paul says:

I saw this in person at Copper mountain along with the entire 09 line up. The bikes are impressive to say the least.
