I turn 40 today

Went for an epic ride yesterday — Heil Ranch to Hall Ranch and back; 5.5 hours away from the car, 4-something hours riding). Feeling tired in all the right ways.

Welcome to the club. After 40 you your body aches and your injuries take forever to heal! Other than that it is great, you will have a new found confidence!

I hope you have another 40 or more birthdays to come!

    Lee,
I took up the MTB at almost 38, and I’m now over 39 and 11/12ths, and learning a ton thanks to you. Keep up the hard work and hard rides and enjoy your birthday!

    Thanks everyone.

Dude: It’s 1 a.m., and The Wife is in the hospital. She had some bad headaches, so we got her checked out today. Turns out her blood pressure is way high, especially considering she’s 42 and carrying twins. She’ll be in the hospital all night tonight, all day tomorrow and tomorrow night, to make sure nothing goes super wrong. The doctors aren’t sending her home until her blood pressure is normal, so she might be there indefinitely. Crazy sign: They gave her a steroid shot, to help the babies’ lungs grow in case they have to pull ’em early. This is sounding ominous. Let’s hope for the best!

    Thanks guys.

The doctors are worried she has “preeclampsia” which, if improperly treated, is very bad. The only cure is having the babies, but it’s awfully soon for that. Heading back to the hospital with her stuff.

    CRAZY:

Sitting here right now, there was a loud noise. I turned, and a bird had hit the window. He was laying there twitching, maybe suffering, and I was about to go end it for him. Just as I got up, a hawk swooped down and carried him off. Heavy.

Hey Lee, Been lurking for a while, just wanted to wish you the best of luck with the twins. My daughter came 3 weeks early and had no complications at all. My nephew came 3 months early and he just started daycare and is doing just fine after some tough times. Hopefully your wife will be coming home with you but if not those steroid shots will do a world of good. Pulling for you and your family, Jason

    and happy b-day too

Thanks again everyone. The Wife is spending tonight in the hospital. She’s feeling pretty good and her blood pressure is better, but it’s all about the lab tests. We’ll know more in the morning.

In bike action: Today I rode across town from the hospital to the doctor’s office for Ian to get his stitches out (broken pinkie at SolVista Nationals). It was full on Enduro SL through town, wringing out every bit of urban terrain along the way. Fitting in the braaaap where I can!

Just got back from MBO(Mountain Bike Oregon) in Oakridge. There were many in there 50’s and 60’s ripping single track like Yoda with a light saber. You have many more miles of serious braaping. Happy Birthday.
