Off-season training begins!

National downhill champion Alex Willie and I have started our off-season training with Erin Carson at RallySport Health and Fitness in Boulder.

Today was challenging — and interesting — as usual. In this short video, Alex flips a 16KG ViPR after doing 12 of these at 12KG. It’s way harder than it looks.

Hey all you rippers, what bike skill(s) does this relate to?

Too link this with RC’s flat pedal debate, I presume this excersise reallys helps when he pulls up on his clipless pedals for bunnyhops!!

Chris! Yep, we’re working on that.

Alex is 16 years old. He is very talented, fit and driven. Like most dudes his age, Alex has (for now) tight hamstrings and a relatively weak upper back. He also has not (yet) developed mastery of his body. Very soon, Alex will get a huge dose of natural steroids, and I want him to be ready to take full advantage.

I’m excited to get him (and me) working with Erin Carson at RallySport because she is educating him about his body and helping him create a solid physical foundation. Erin is the real deal: a highly experienced trainer, an Olympian and a competitive triathlete.

Watch Alex (and hopefully me) get smarter and stronger over this off season.
