VINTAGE BMX RACE SERIES THIS SUMMER

This is cool: Some old farts are holding a vintage BMX race series at County Line BMX in Centennial, CO.

Your carcass has to be at least 30 years old. Your bike has to be at least 20 years old. Quill stems, caliper brakes and flat pedals are mandatory. If you don’t know what a caliper brake is, forget about it.

This should be tons of fun. Old BMXers tend to be fast and aggressive. Many of these guys are former pros on 20-, 24- and 26-inch wheels, and this ain’t their first picnic. Man, it’s pretty surprising what some of these guys will do to you in a corner.

I’ll miss the first race because I’m teaching MTB this Sunday, but I hope to make the rest of the series.

Time to sharpen the elbows and practice some gates!
