PRO BMX SKILLS IS READY TO PRINT!

Finally!

Today I did the last round of edits—really, I mean it this time—and exported the print-ready pdfs. Tomorrow I meet with a potential investor. Based on that negotiation I’ll decide whether to do on-demand digital printing (low initial cost, low profit margin) or print 5,000 copies on a traditional press (high initial cost, higher profit margin). The finish line is so close I just want to sprint for it, but I need to stay smart.

The proofs look great. I can’t wait to get this book out there!

Congrats! Let me know if you need another proofreader prior to it going to print

  2. Jimmy Says July 30, 2010 @ 9:30 am

Are you going to offer it as a digital download too? PLEASE?

Definitely. That’s ready to go now, but it seems like I should release it with the print version (or maybe not?). What do you think?

Bring it to print. I’ve been waiting for this a long time. I know a lot of others that have been waiting and/or looking for a book like it.

All I know is that the sooner you have it available for download, the sooner you’ll have my money in your pocket. Keep up the good work Lee.

I am SO ready to get the book out there

Sent pdfs to the printer today for a technical check. Working to finalize my contract with the guy who’s paying for printing. Oh man, this part has nothing to do with bikes … must … be … patient … but DUDE we’re so close!

    I’ll buy one!

Digital is good…loads of people have netbooks and iPads

just worry about you not getting the reward for your hard work! PDFs make their way around easily….a book…espacially one signed by you! makes people stoked to go buy it!

It would be nice if you packaged the digital and book somehow…

I’m currently wrestling with the pdf security issue. For every copy of Pump Track Nation that gets bought, 3-5 get stolen. I’m semi-OK with that—more pump tracks is a good thing—but the BMX book was way too much work to give out for free.

The solutions that protect against pdf sharing/piracy are all really expensive (thousands of dollars, and you know who ultimately pays that cost). I found a few lower-cost options, but they only work on Windows. Grr.

If only everyone would promise not to distribute the pdf …

I dig the idea of a print/pdf package.

    Also:

The printer says the book files are dialed and ready to print. Next: Finalize the contract with my investor (hopefuly this Friday), send the down payment and start printing!

One day lee, one day, Im gonna get my “pre order” in the mail and that will make me one happy camper. Looking forward to it. Can you say hooking to manual to jet hop?

  13. leelikesbikes Says August 9, 2010 @ 10:43 am

DUDE! I can’t wait for you to get your pre-pre-pre-order.

The printing investor and I are still wrangling over our contract. If this drags on I’ll do on-demand digital printing for the pre-pre-pre-orders. That’ll cost me money, but I really want you guys to have your books

    Hook to manual to j-hop

    Thanks man. I’m excited too.

I’m also dialing in the technology for the e-version of Pro BMX Skills.
