GOING BIG AT THE OLYMPIC TRAINING CENTER

Our man Chris Powell got a chance to ride the new BMX SX track at the Olympic training center in Chula Vista, CA. The track is a close copy of the Bejing track, and it’s HUGE!!! Chris sent a couple photos:

The tallest start ramp in the United States …

… feeds this monster double. This is the second jump on the first straight. Imagine how fast Chris must be going. Braaap!

The Olympic BMX track is Savage!! What is impressive is watching the women race. I expect a dude like Donny Robinson to nail all the huge jumps, but I watch a video on U-Tube and the women jumped everything too.

Awesome - Now that’s a set of doubles!!! My home track DHS BMX CA21 (now ancient history) had what I thought were the longest doubles ever on an ABA track at 32′ at the end of the first straight - very fun! Does anyone know how long this set is?

[…] Sunday - Same as Saturday. I hope I can get some laps on that monstrous track. No, I will not be hitting that double! […]

Hey Lance…I’m Vance. That double is 32 to 35. I don’t remember the exact length but the fact that its 9 feet tall makes it really intimidating to the untrained eye. Especially at 40mph.
