I’m starting to feel the speed. All 248 pages are laid out. I’m doing edits, getting things proofread and working on the final images. The cover design is underway. I’m looking for the best printing options. Getting close!
Some of you might have heard that Mark Weir’s house burned down. He and his family escaped unhurt, but he lost everything else. He is being positive (Weir style) but this is a trying time.
Weir is a good man. A gentleman warrior. Let’s give him a hand.

Weir has done a lot for many people in the bike world. Let’s return the favor.
I haven’t ridden outside in two weeks. And I’ve been working like a pig. And things here are busy. But I’ve been rocking the indoor intervals and strength work, and I feel solid. And the BMX book is in its final phase. And The Twins are doing great. So it’s all good.
But I’m antsy.

Number 9, at least according to www.bikeblogs.com.
That’s a nice boost on a groggy morning. Thanks Brett.
This year I helped create a family of niche shipping sites. ShipYourBicycles.com is live, and I want to invite you to try it with a special rate.
This is a busy time of year for shipping, and we all know how expensive it can be to ship bikes and other items.
Keep reading for more info — and to get your special Lee Likes Bikes bro shipping rate.

I am super stoked to be back working on the BMX technique book.

My dead-of-winter, finishing-two-books, new-dad-of-twins training program isn’t super fun, but I think it’s getting the job done.

The manuscript for Mastering Mountain Bike Skills v2 is back from the copy editor. I made a few small tweaks, and now I’m working on the glossary. That was one criticism of the first edition: no glossary.
So: Which terms should I include?
“Braaap” is already in there.
Today was my last chance for a big XC ride, at least for a while. I took The Wife to breakfast, assembled an infant car seat then met some dudes at Heil Ranch. We climbed then descended, climbed then descended. The climbing felt good — comfortable and strong. The descending — well — BRAAAP! The book is done for now, and we’re pretty much ready for the kids. What a treat to let it all go for a few hours: railing turns, pumping rocks, seeking good lines but riding whatever appeared in front of me.
Whoa that’s a big rock! Might as well go straight over it.
Dudes. I just sent 242 photos and diagrams to my publisher. I cannot believe how fast Mastering Mountain Bike Skills II came together. With the first edition, I was figuring out how to ride, then figuring out how to explain riding, then figuring out how to express the ideas. With this second edition, I already know how to explain riding — I’ve been teaching this stuff for five years — and it was just a matter of capturing the knowledge in words and images. That plus stay on top of my other work and get ready for the twins.
Nothing like a little stress to get you going.
“OK riders, set ‘em up …”
